Turkey Seeks to Increase Trade Volume with Saudi Arabia
Speaking at the Saudi Arabia–Türkiye Investment Forum in Riyadh, Bolat noted that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to the kingdom is expected to result in numerous agreements between government ministries and business organizations.
Erdogan’s official visit included first lady Emine Erdogan and several Turkish ministers, including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek, Trade Minister Omer Bolat, and Defense Minister Yasar Guler.
Bolat emphasized that the agreements reached during the visit would strengthen economic ties and elevate bilateral relations to new levels. He highlighted that the short-term trade target between the two countries is $10 billion, while the long-term goal is $30 billion, adding, "I hope that 2026 will be the year we achieve our $10 billion target."
He also noted that the current trade volume has already surpassed $8.6 billion and said collaboration in the defense sector is gaining momentum, particularly in procurement and joint production projects.
